Notting Hill Gate 143
A new studio for artist and photographer Sophie Molins who found this amazing space that had been built in a Notting Hill garden as a non-conformist chapel. It is filled it with objects found and created.
A space-saving library lines the oval staircase up to the bedroom which is tucked away on a mezzanine above the kitchen with a Juliet balcony to link to the double-height studio volume.
There is no external façade so this project was all about re-organising a fantastic and unusual double-height volume, carving out bedrooms and bathrooms without losing the essential qualities of the space.
In many ways it is the ideal urban living and working environment, with a mix of different feelings and rooms and an inspirational light-filled studio for working and entertaining.
